On our way
to Darwin we popped into see the jumping crocodiles, we boarded a boat with
large clear windows and had window seats. As we travelled along the river the
crocodiles would swim towards the boat for a feed. Each of the crocs within the
feeding area had names and each one was fed at different times during the day.
To see the crocs jump out of the water and grab hold of a piece of meat was impressive,
they are such a big reptile averaging 4 to 5 metres sometimes 6 metres in
length.
It was a
very hot day in Darwin on the Sunday that we arrived, with no accommodation and
air con, we drove to the water front and had some lunch followed by a meander
through the city. Back to the van and onto the Mindil Markets and the Darwin
Beer Can Regatta, busy busy busy. People were everywhere, the night was very sticky
and humid, we had nowhere to stay due to a hiccup with our accommodation. We
stayed at the market having a few drinks until late, then headed into the city
to find a quiet street as camping in the foreshore precinct is prohibited.
During our
stay we visited the war museum, museum and a water park, all very entertaining.
Upon
leaving Darwin and on our way to Litchfield for the week, we stopped at Berry
Springs and swam in the warm bath like swimming holes, and had a relaxing doze
in the sun.
We have had
a little bit of down time in Darwin so there should be more to talk about over
the coming week with many more spectacular sights to be explored.
Hope all
are well, will chat again soon.
