Alice Springs

Monday we went to the West MacDonnell Ranges, Standly Chasm was the standout. Before leaving for Wycliff Well, we visited the Alice Springs Desert Park.

Finally reached Wycliff Well that afternoon, the UFO capital of Australia. Caught up with a couple we camped with at Kings Canyon a week earlier and met a nice couple camping next door to us, four drinks later and almost burnt spaghetti.

Questioned the girls at the shop about what there is to do in regards to the UFO’s, their response was to walk around and look at the park’s murals, which were ok. Not much in regards to extraterrestrials. As for the park itself, one night too many, but part of the outback experience. They promote a bistro and train rides for the kids, indoor pool all this has been shut down and locked away. Weird, different, a bit apprehensive as to where tomorrow might lead, must try a free camp soon…

Ten minutes out of town are the Devil’s Marbles.
